You have taken some lovely images, you definitely have “an eye”. Take a look at books by Charlie Waite he’s a famous landscape photographer and a friend of mine. He taught me to look at the sky as it’s the light that paints the landscape.

Wonderful story Jan and absolutely amazing photos. I would describe them as atmospheric. Very nice!
I was in IT too and had kind of a meltdown as well (physical in my case). Photography was a huge part of my recovery and it has brought to this lovely website with kind people and wonderful photos. Thank you for sharing!

    Regards, Daniël

    Nice photos.
I have had the same journey. Stress and sick leave. Using 6 months walking and photographing every day. Just walking without a plan or a destination. Sometimes I came home without a single photo. That was ok. The nature helped me back to a close to normal life.
I am a bit older than you, but I have a retirement plan: Photography 🙂
The photo is taken around midnight.

I found this a brilliant read but eerily familiar. I’m the same age, married almost as long, same history with cameras as me also :-). The difference is that I have only just got into photography again with a passion this time. I’ve replaced my E-PL1 with a used OM-D EM10 to use to learn again. Your pictures are brilliant. Thanks for the article.

    Hi Jan,

Absolutely fantastic and inspiring to read about your background and see your great photos. You definitely have an eye for beautiful unique motives. I’d love if you could also share a bit about your post processing. Greeting from Munich, Germany

      Thank you!!

I’ll use lightroom in my post-processing, almost 95% is done there.
I have some presets I’ll use, and correct the exposure, highlights and shadows.

I’ll use Alyn Wallace’s workflow in lightroom in the night photos.
