Landscape Photography Workshop with Phil Norton – May 2019 – Terms and Conditions

Once a secret, the south-west is the jewel of Portugal and is undoubtedly becoming a desired destination. With beautiful beaches and unspoiled scenery, the Alentejo coastline is the perfect destination for your next workshop.

Facing west, the coastline is bathed by the Atlantic Ocean, making it the ideal location for creating stunning coastal images.

Just a step away from the heart of the Alentejo region, there are stunning locations for shooting sunrise and sunset, and opportunities for daytime photography along the coast. You will also have the opportunity to shoot street scenes in the unspoiled towns and the famous green fields and olive groves of the region.

Your host will be Phil Norton, landscape photographer and NiSi Filters Ambassador. He will guide you through the photographic process, whatever your skill level. From basic settings and understanding exposure, to advanced techniques and settings, Phil will help you master your camera. Under Phil’s instruction you will understand composition, learn how to ‘see’ the shot, and avoid common mistakes. You will learn the secrets of shooting in different situations, such as challenging light, long exposures, and how to make sure you get the shot. You will also learn how to use filters to control exposure.

We’ll be staying in a picturesque and very hospitable region, enjoying the friendly atmosphere of the locals, the local food and wine, among people with a common interest in Photography.

Start packing your photo gear, grab the backpack and the tripod and come visit one of the most beautiful places in Portugal, with its impressive cliffs and steep and sculpted crags, pristine beaches, islets and reefs, among many other natural beauties. The views are breathtaking.

You only need to bring some clothes, your camera gear and your desire to shoot. Everything else is included and arranged: accommodation, meals and transportation from arrival at the airport until departure.

We meet at Lisbon airport at 11:30am on May 21st, then we’ll have lunch in Lisbon, the perfect opportunity for everyone in the group to make a brief introduction and get to know each other.
On the last day of the workshop, May 24th, the estimated time of arrival back to Lisbon airport is at 15:00. All times shown are for the Lisbon time zone.

Main highlights of the places to be photographed:

  • Wooden jetties of Carrasqueira
  • Porto Covo – The beach in front of the “Ilha do Pessegueiro” (Peach-tree Island)
  • Vila Nova de Milfontes
  • Arrifana
  • Zambujeira

We warn you in advance that we will be rising very early, in order to shoot dawn. But it will definitely be worth it.

During the day there will be many points of interest to visit and photograph. The workshop would not be complete without several sessions that will be held, in which everyone will have the chance to evaluate their captured images and get to know Phil Norton’s workflow in Adobe post processing tools (Photoshop and Lightroom). We will discuss processing techniques, different applications to use and process some images to help your workflow. Not using Adobe? Phil will show you other applications you can use too.
