Capture the feeling with Dorina’s eyes
Hello there, it’s Dorina from Budapest, Hungary. I am delighted to share my work with you all and to offer a glimpse into what motivates me behind the lens.
For me, photography is more than just a hobby; it’s a way to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life, a multifaceted experience that offers both relaxation and immersion. As I capture moments, I enter a state of flow, where time seems to stand still, and I become one with my surroundings. Moreover, photography serves as a form of artistic therapy; it helps me express my emotions and thoughts visually, transforming the world around me into a canvas of creativity. Through this process, I find not only solace but also a deeper connection to myself and my environment.
It wasn’t until my late twenties that photography truly became my passion. On February 14, 2023, I decided to celebrate Valentine’s Day by gifting myself my first Olympus camera, the PEN E-P7 model, and I was instantly smitten. From that moment on, there was no turning back. This little gem is exactly what I was looking for: a compact, lightweight, and travel-ready option that offers excellent image quality, stylish design, and user-friendly features.

Like many new photographers, I captured everything in sight, but over time, I discovered the themes and techniques that resonate with me most. One of these is street photography, which beautifully reveals the essence of my hometown, Budapest. With its vibrant personalities and lively atmosphere, the city serves as a perfect backdrop for my work.
On a crisp autumn afternoon, I set off along the Danube Promenade, my camera slung over my shoulder. I revel in the way the sun illuminates the historic buildings, casting sparkling reflections on their façades, and how others marvel at the elegant bridges connecting Buda and Pest. The city effortlessly transforms into a playground of visual stories.

Venturing out of the city, I really enjoy visiting Tata, Vác, or Esztergom as well. Another favorite is Szentendre, with its charming, authentic atmosphere. The quaint streets and vibrant culture make it a delightful place to wander. If I ever find myself needing a break from photography, Szentendre has an array of cozy restaurants and delightful cafés to explore. Whether enjoying a meal or indulging in a sweet treat, the experience enhances my explorations and adds to the joy of discovering new places.
These moments touch me deeply—the fleeting glances and the simple beauty of life unfolding around me. Whether I’m exploring my own city or venturing into a foreign one, I find myself in a state of flow. I typically carry three lenses with me: a 17mm, a 45mm, and a 75-300mm telephoto lens for distant subjects. But in the midst of Frankfurt am Main’s skyscrapers, I found the fisheye lens incredibly useful for capturing the city’s unique angles.

The M.Zuiko 45mm f/1.8 lens has become my go-to choice for good reason. One of its standout features is its ability to create a stunning background blur. What I particularly appreciate about this focal length is its comfortable shooting distance. It strikes the perfect balance between wide and tight, making it ideal for capturing both portraits and dynamic street scenes.

But it’s not just buildings that inspire me; I love wandering through nature, exploring the tiny wonders that are often invisible to the naked eye. With its breathtaking sights and a touch of creativity—like playing with water droplets or light effects—nature offers an endless array of possibilities for stunning images. For this, I often rely on my 60mm macro lens. Playing with sunlight creates a beautiful bokeh effect, enhancing the visual impact of my photos.

In recent years, it has become a tradition for me to visit Kevélyhegyi Lavender Field in June. The sight of endless purple blooms stretching across the landscape is truly breathtaking, creating a stunning backdrop for photography. The vibrant colors and fragrant scent of the lavender enhance the entire experience, making it a perfect setting for capturing both wide landscapes and beautiful close-ups. Each visit offers a new opportunity to explore different angles and compositions, allowing me to create a variety of images that celebrate the beauty of nature.

Almost a year after purchasing my first mirrorless camera, I was thrilled to receive an honorary award in the Architecture category of the photo contest organized for the Liget10 anniversary. This recognition was both a validation of my passion and a source of immense joy.
One of my dreams is to photograph the iconic buildings and skyscrapers of New York City. The city’s skyline, with its towering structures and unique architectural styles, has always captivated me. I can envision myself wandering through the streets and capturing the essence of this vibrant metropolis. As I stroll through neighborhoods like Manhattan, I imagine framing shots of famous landmarks, from the majestic Empire State Building to the lush greenery of Central Park. I want to seize those fleeting moments—people immersed in their daily routines, street performers captivating passersby, and the energy that fills the air.

While it’s still a goal on my bucket list, I’m thrilled to explore and capture every place I have the chance to visit with great excitement. This spring, I had the incredible opportunity to visit the Netherlands during the vibrant tulip festival at Keukenhof. After soaking in the floral beauty, I headed to Scheveningen, a popular beach destination. One of my favorite shots was taken here, featuring the calm waves and the sunset bathed in golden shades. The serene scene perfectly captured the essence of the moment, showcasing the beauty of nature as the day came to a close.
I have an Instagram account called @dorinas_eyes, please feel free to check it out to explore more of my work!

I’ve loved photography for as long as I can remember. As a child, I was fascinated by old black-and-white photos of my great-grandparents—faces I never met but often heard stories about.
My first camera as a teenager sparked a passion I didn’t yet realize, and on Valentine’s Day 2023 I gifted myself an Olympus Pen E-P7, which truly sealed my love for photography.
Compact, stylish, and perfect for travel, it became my ideal companion.
I enjoy exploring new places, noticing small details, and capturing emotions along the way—sharing them through “Dorina’s eyes,” my way of seeing the world behind the lens.”
